My role
I led product design for the Reimagine initiative, guiding the work from early concept through launch in close partnership with product, engineering, and business teams. I was responsible for shaping the creative direction, establishing design processes, and providing ongoing art direction and critique. I also worked with my team to update and refine a flexible, scalable design framework to ensure consistency and support future product growth.

Project Summary
Pearson “Reimagine” is a design initiative aimed at transforming the learning experience for college students and career-driven professionals seeking advancement through online courses and certifications. The project delivered a personalized digital ecosystem that included a redesigned eCommerce platform, a new video-based learning application, and a refreshed design language that departed from traditional brand conventions. This work established a scalable foundation that informed and influenced future product development.

The challenge

  • Pearson maintained separate websites for educators and students, resulting in fragmented experiences and inconsistent access to up-to-date information.

  • With thousands of products available, how can we implement a predictive search to improve users’ ability to find what they are looking for quickly.

  • Design a unified platform that serves both audiences while dynamically tailoring content to their distinct needs.

  • Create a modern design system utilizing design standards and tokens that can be shared company-wide, and assist developers in building our products more efficiently.

The Solution

  • Evaluated existing data, insights, and student needs to identify key opportunities

  • Audited current products and content for accessibility, compliance, and clarity of copy

  • Analyzed the competitive landscape to inform strategic direction

  • Conducted stakeholder interviews and maintained ongoing alignment and communication

  • Documented key user flows and developed wireframes

  • Led user research through interviews, surveys, and focus groups

  • Designed and delivered prototypes along with scalable, consistent design artifacts

  • Facilitated User Acceptance Testing and iterated based on feedback

  • Continuously refined solutions through iterative design cycles

  • Identified opportunities for future growth and product evolution

The Results

  • Measurable improvements were made to both the educator and student experiences — contributing to ~$55M in revenue and 1M+ orders just two years post-launch.
